Smooth Christmas
Always the Best Christmas Music
Smooth Christmas is Global's seasonal festive station, playing non-stop Christmas favourites from artists including Wham!, Elton John, Mariah Carey, Michael Bublé, Slade, Whitney Houston and Chris Rea. With a warmer classic-hits flavour than many Christmas stations, it is built for listeners who want familiar festive songs playing throughout the day without straying away from Christmas music.

Smooth Christmas is the festive sister station to Smooth Radio and returned for the 2026 Christmas season in October. Its job is refreshingly straightforward: Christmas music all day, with a playlist centred on well-known seasonal records rather than trying to mix ordinary songs into the format. Expect artists such as Wham!, Elton John, Whitney Houston, Slade, Chris Rea, Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé alongside other familiar Christmas favourites.
The station has more history than its recent Global relaunch might suggest. An earlier Smooth Christmas service first appeared under GMG Radio in 2011 and returned in 2012, before Global revived the name as a dedicated festive service in September 2024. It has since become part of Global's seasonal radio line-up, returning in the run-up to Christmas and giving the Smooth brand its own alternative to broader pop-focused festive stations.
For the 2026 season, Smooth Christmas is available on DAB+ across Greater London as well as through its live digital feed. The station operates as part of the wider Smooth and Global operation based at Leicester Square in London. Its appeal is the consistency of the format: if you tune in for Christmas music, that is what you get, whether you want something playing while decorating the tree, wrapping presents, working through December or settling into the Christmas break.
Notable shows & presenters are:
- Andrew Ridgeley – A Christmas Special with Andrew Ridgeley: Wham! star Andrew Ridgeley presented a dedicated two-hour Smooth Christmas special, choosing festive songs and sharing stories about Wham!, George Michael and the history of Last Christmas. It remains one of the clearest examples of personality-led programming created specifically for Smooth Christmas.
- Jenni Falconer – Smooth Breakfast: Jenni Falconer presents Smooth Breakfast from 6am to 10am on weekdays across the wider Smooth network. She is also listed by Smooth within the presenter directory linked from the Smooth Christmas service.
- Kate Garraway – Weekday Mornings: Kate Garraway presents the weekday 10am to 1pm programme on Smooth and has been closely involved with the brand's Christmas output, including helping launch Christmas music on Smooth. Her programme combines familiar music with a warm, personality-led daytime style.
- Angie Greaves – The Smooth Drive Home: Angie Greaves presents The Smooth Drive Home from 4pm to 7pm on weekdays and also appears on Sunday mornings. She is one of the long-established voices in the wider Smooth presenter line-up connected with the Smooth Christmas pages.
- Myleene Klass – Saturday Afternoons: Myleene Klass presents Saturday afternoons from 4pm to 7pm on Smooth. A classically trained musician as well as a broadcaster, she is part of the presenter roster promoted across the Smooth and Smooth Christmas family.
