Absolute 80s broadcasts across the majority of the United Kingdom on DAB Digital Radio. It is one of the spin-off radio stations to the main Absolute Radio brand. Absolute 80s began broadcasting on 4th December 2009, replacing "Absolute Xtreme". Its target audience is "reluctant adults" aged 30+, so mainly Gen-X individuals.

Absolute 80s plays nothing but music that was created during the 1980s. This includes such genres as New Wave, Rock, Disco & Electronic. During the evenings & weekends, there are specialist shows that concentrate on a specific genre of the 80s, or perhaps a specific year. During off-peak times, Absolute 80s follows a playlist format, where there are no presenters, but broken up by frequent commercials.

Absolute 80s does have competitions, mostly networked. The most recent being Make Me A Winner, where participants can win a pre-determined amount of money at the end of the week, and the prize amount increases every week regardless of a win by the listener. This is a competition also broadcast on most (if not all) Bauer radio stations.

Notable shows & presenters are:

• Matthew Rudd: self-professed "Oracle of the 80s". Presents Forgotten 80s on Sundays (schedule may change).
• Chris Martin: presents the Absolute 80s Album Chart on Sunday afternoons.
• Claire Sturgess: with Friday Night 80s with Claire Sturgess.
• Absolute 80s also share programmes with its parent radio station, Absolute Radio. These include the Dave Berry Breakfast Show & Home Time with Bush & Richie, however those shows play 80s music.
