BBC Radio 1 is a publicly-owned radio station, playing the newest music, along with classic hits from recent years & specialist genres.

Launched on 30th September 1967, BBC Radio is owned by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation). It is not a commercial radio station, as it is funded by the TV License in the United Kingdom.

Most legendary DJs started on BBC Radio 1, and this is also true today. The most legendary of DJs have had long-lasting careers starting from the 1970s - 1990s.

• Pete Tong – with his segment "Hot Mix", typically during early Monday morning (schedule may vary).
• Rickie, Melvin & Charlie – weekday mid-mornings.
