UKG 24/7 is not owned by any major company, and so runs as an independent radio station. By doing so, it does not have any shareholders or a parent company.

The station began streaming at some point in 2006, broadcasting constantly from that point. It started at a good time - at the time the underground garage scene was huge. Bassline was not mainstream but was supported by many nightclubs in the North of England, mainly Manchester and Sheffield through the Niche nightclub. Garage was big in the early noughties, but soon evolved into Bassline making artists such as TS7, Burga Boy and T2 big. Some of the artists involved actually made it into the mainstream UK Top 40. Since then, the genre has gone into mainstream music but has lost its way from its hey day.

This radio station celebrates the underground Bassline and Garage scene and every grenre around them, bringing the listener back to its roots. They do play newer music from the genres, but feel it's important to highlight the original sound of the underground.
