The Hitmix is Newcastle-under-Lyme’s own community radio station, broadcasting on 107.5FM and online with a local-first mix of music, information and personality. The station launched on Saturday 28 November 2015 after Newcastle-under-Lyme had gone without a full-time station of its own, giving the borough a dedicated radio voice and a stronger local identity.
The station’s music policy is deliberately broad, with “More Variety, More Of The Time” at the heart of the sound. That means familiar songs, specialist programmes, competitions and presenter-led daytime radio, but with enough local material to stop it feeling like a generic jukebox. Local news, weather, traffic and travel, sport, interviews and community updates all help The Hitmix stay useful to listeners across Newcastle-under-Lyme and Staffordshire.
The Hitmix also has a clear community role. Its public file says weekday daytime programming from 7am to 10pm is live from the studios, with most programming produced and presented from Newcastle-under-Lyme. The station supports local events and charities, invites news stories from the area, and gives listeners a direct route into the station by phone, text and email.
