Serenade Radio launched in February 2015 and has built its identity around easy listening, nostalgia and calm, friendly presentation. The station is loosely inspired by the warmth and variety of the old BBC Light Programme, with music from artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Mel Tormé, Bing Crosby and many others from the golden age of popular song. It deliberately avoids the noisy, over-produced feel of modern commercial radio.
