Park Radio is a volunteer-led community station serving Diss, Eye, Harleston, Bungay and the wider Waveney Valley. The station launched on 26 November 2017 from the Youth and Community Centre in Diss and has grown into a recognisable local voice for the area, with FM coverage and online listening that keeps it accessible across the patch it is meant to serve.

What gives Park Radio value is that it actually sounds local. The station positions itself around the communities of south Norfolk and the nearby Suffolk border, not around some lazy one-size-fits-all playlist. That matters because community radio only works when it feels rooted in the places it covers. Park Radio leans into that with a broad schedule, local presence, volunteer involvement and programming that reflects the Waveney Valley rather than pretending every town is interchangeable.

The output is varied enough to stop the page from becoming bland nonsense. Alongside breakfast and daytime shows, Park Radio carries specialist programming covering country, rock, ska, soul, 80s music, chart retrospectives and local music discovery. That mix gives the station a stronger identity than a lot of small stations manage, because listeners can come for local connection and still find shows with an actual point of view.

Notable shows & presenters are:

  • Jono Abel: Hosts Jono Abel at Breakfast, one of the station’s best-signposted shows and a key part of Park Radio’s weekday local sound.
  • Nigel Rennie: Presents Country Express, giving country music a proper dedicated slot rather than leaving it buried on the edges of the schedule.
  • Andrew Cooper: Hosts Sunday Introducing, a showcase built around emerging and local music rather than recycled mainstream filler.
  • James Grint: Presents 80s Obsession, a specialist nostalgia show that adds a distinct theme-led strand to the weekly line-up.
  • Nick W: Hosts The Rock Show, bringing a heavier specialist music lane into the schedule and helping broaden the station beyond standard daytime radio.
